On Saturday 24th – Sunday 25th October 2026 twenty-nine young people from around the Deal and Dover District slept in cardboard boxes to raise funds and awareness for Porchlight. After a Porchlight presentation, hog dogs and a Lego challenge they settled down for the night in the Sports Hall at the Duke of Yorks School in Dover. They raised over £500 for the charity.
The Scouts had a visit from the Mayor of Dover – Mayor Cllr Bekah Dawes
24 Hours condensed down to a 10 minute video
18th Dover (Shepardswell) also hosted their own cardboard sleep out. Scout Volunteer – Peter Moore had to say:
“Shepherdswell Scout Group has a long tradition of raising money for good causes. Over 30 adults and young people were delighted to take in this years Porchlight Big Cardboard Sleepout. Not even Storm Boelo could stop our young people, who were able to learn about homelessness, raise sponsorship and have a great time. Together we are delighted that they have raised £1600 for Porchlight. Huge thanks to all our Leaders, Parents and Carers that made our Sleepout possible.”
